I worked very closely with Gunjan over several weeks for a critical project at Urban Company. He led the design for this project, and I was his product counterpart. He took such exceptional ownership of the flow that I am now spoiled for life - any time I work with another designer I will (in the back of my mind) always benchmark them against Gunjan’s performance here. He was a strong partner for me to brainstorm and workshop with together. I saw multiple evolutions in the designs from day one till the end. I saw him work hard on one version, do 15 UTs over a weekend, and then rework it into a more refined version. He, in my opinion, managed to abstract away so much complexity for the user that the final designs appear simple and obvious, even though they handle so many cases and capabilities. He has always been open to feedback, and probed when necessary to understand why I have reservations or difference of opinion about a particular design choice. I am a very demanding product counterpart when it comes to designs because I am opinionated about my vision for the product. He has always managed that well, and created output that surpasses my vision. He has not cared whether we are workshopping on Figma at 10pm on Tuesday or 9am on Sunday. His obsession with the project matches my own, and I never say that lightly. From the high-level constructs down to the individual pixel level - he has been amazing to work with and he deserves to be recognised.
